Smart Energy Provider Program

Have any of you submitted the SEP application through APPA? How long did it take you to pull together all of the required data? Any tips or tricks? Lessons learned?

I would say total, the process took maybe 40 hours. I spread the process out over the course of several weeks, so it is difficult to specifically nail down the hours spent.

I thought the application process was helpful being online and savable. This allowed me to start working on an answer and add more to it later on as I found more evidence and information. As I was not at BL during the reporting year, I had to do a lot of discussions with people here and dig through records to find the relevant information for the application. Being able to add as many pieces of evidence to our answers was really helpful.

I kept a record of the anticipated score we expected to get for each question to see if BL would qualify. This was helpful when received our certification and score from the evaluating committee. I am able to compare where we are and where we can go in the future to maintain or achieve a better score.

I did keep a folder tracking all of the evidence that I sent in with the application. I figured that this will help when we go to reapply. I can look at what I added and see if we changed programs, reporting structures or materials that might help our application.
