Camera Recommendations

Hi All,

MGED is looking into purchasing a new camera & lenses for taking professional-quality photos in house. It'd be great having the ability capture the linemen working up in a bucket.

We currently use a smartphone camera but the low-resolution means we can't use these photos for print. We're looking for something to shoot at least 400dpi.

Does anyone have recommendations for a camera they use professionally or personally? Any input is appreciated!

Hi Kyle,

I purchased something like this a few years back for us here at BELD. Its not a "photographers" camera, but it's good for beginners and takes good hi-res pictures, comes with an extra 75-300mm lens for some longer range shots and comes with a bag! You can also shoot HD video with this camera.

You will also need a memory card, the one I linked below is a good one and on sale right now (I might have to pick one up).

Should also pick up a memory card reader something like the one I linked below.

Nikon also has a similar bundle but its almost 2x the cost with basically the same features (Linked).

After you pick one up, go play with it, take a bunch of random pics and videos around MGED (probably on Auto mode) and then watch some YouTube vids and learn about all the settings.
