Replacement for Smart Charge Program

Hi All - GeoTab, who we worked with for a Smart Charge pilot program, has decided to disband the individual driver aspect to focus on fleets. MGED is in the process of looking for a replacement service to implement by the end of the year.

We're looking at different hardware, software, and MDM based programs that may be more effective than SmartCharge was for us. I'd be very interested in hearing what others are using / considering as a replacement for GeoTab's SmartCharge program. Thanks!

When we set up BL's demand response for EV chargers, we looked at what could we effectively do. Instead of controlling all of the hours, we targeted specifically the peak hours that we could/would hit. BL administered its own program during 2019 by calling peak events from looking at our load versus ISO's and giving credit to customers that participated. To be more effective with cost and how to decrease demand, in 2020 we joined MMWEC's Connected Homes program which uses the same platform that the self-administered program did. MMWEC's ability to administer for multiple MLPs gave economy of scale. It also allowed MMWEC to leverage their power supply desk to give all participants the ability to call peaks all year long.

The technology-neutral platform does allow you to pull in more devices than just EVs, which is something to consider.
