AMI Opt-Out Policies

Do any of your utilities have a written policy/procedure for customers wishing to opt-out of AMI "smart" meters? Do you charge a fee? Is there an agreement the customer has to sign? Do you provide a different meter or do you use the same meter, but turn off the remote read access?


If you do offer an opt-out, how many customers have taken advantage of it? Have any chosen to opt back into AMI once they see what deployment actually looks like?
