Weather Normalization Data on Billing
Posting on behalf of Jonathan Fitch:
Does anyone include any weather normalization data printed on your monthly bills or posted on your webpage to help explain high bills in either winter and summer?
We get a fair share of high bill calls without electrification and as we add more electric HVAC, I expect we’ll get more calls. We generally get most high bill calls in the winter resulting from electric radiant heat use. With heat-pumps providing heating and cooling, I expect we’ll get more summer calls in the future.
Currently we print a 12 month billing history on each bill with the following:
Read Date kWh’s kWh’s/day
3/26/2021 750 25
2/26/2021 750 27
Etc.
I am thinking about adding the following either on bill and/or on our webpage:
Read Date kWh’s kWh’s/day HDD HDD/day
3/26/2021 750 25 ## ##
Thanks.

We used to include Heating Degree Day information but took it out with the last bill update because it tended to cause more confusion. Our CSRs have the HDD data to use when a customer calls. We are considering a graph instead.
