Conservation Charge Rate
We are reevaluating what we charge and collect for the Conservation Rate for rebates, programs, marketing, etc. I believe that we could increase our rate slightly and expand our budget enough. Currently we are charging all customers $0.0024 per kWh. What are other MLPs charging or do to collect the RCS funds?
Thought process currently: We could increase the Conservation Charge to increase our budget for more exploratory funds. Another possibility is to go to a fixed monthly fee that we decide on and have a set budget. With the funds on the per kWh factor, our budget fluctuates from year to year and we can't always keep the same programs, change programs, try new things out or create new programs.

We currently have a 30 cent per month RCS services charge on all bills to fund our RCS programs. We have been considering adding a separate adder for programs that combat GHG initiatives. Here's what we asked in a survey a couple of years ago (slide with the survey result attached)
: MGED is considering adding a small charge to all bills to fund smart energy incentives and projects such as electric vehicles, residential or community solar projects, energy efficiency upgrades/technology in older homes, educational programs in schools and community energy fairs. This added fee is similar to what is charged to investor-owned utility customers but the funds would stay in our communities. The typical residential customer would see an increase of $4.60 per year – less than 40 cents per month. Would you favor or oppose paying this new charge?
