COTY AWARD

The Municipal Electric Association of Massachusetts – Communications & Energy Services Communicator of the Year Award is given each year at the MEAM-CES Annual Conference. 

 

Award Eligibility

  • Must be nominated by the General Manager of a MEAM member utility or through unanimous nomination by the MEAM-CES leadership team (president, secretary, and treasurer).

  • Must currently work for or have recently retired from a MEAM member utility.

  • Must be the individual responsible for the majority of public communications at a MEAM member utility or must be the main communicator managing public relations for a major project or incident at a MEAM member utility.

  • Sitting members of the MEAM-CES leadership team (president, secretary, and treasurer) are not eligible for the award.

Nomination Criteria

  • Consistently demonstrates effective public communications.

  • Recognized as an advocate who has earned a reputation as being highly credible with a variety of diverse audiences.

  • Consistently uses communication strategies that demonstrate creativity and innovation in a public utility environment.

  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership and communication skills.

  • Uses communication strategies that demonstrate strategic thinking, which contributes to the betterment of MEAM member utilities.

  • Demonstrates exemplary ethics and professionalism.

  • Recognized as a role model for communicators and non-communicators alike.

  • Demonstrates communication skills and messages that exemplify the best of MEAM member utility practices.

Nomination Process

  • Nominate candidates using this brief online form.

  • Nominations must be submitted by March 29, 2018

  • A winner will be chosen by the MEAM-CES leadership and confirmed by the MEAM Executive Committee

  • The award will be given at the MEAM-CES Annual Conference
